Happy Thanksgiving

We spent our Thanksgiving with friends and family, as most do, and it was such a great day! I made mini caramel apples (some dipped in toffee bits, some in white chocolate) for dessert and we ate kalua pork instead of turkey... which I happen to think was the BEST IDEA EVER.

This Weekend

Friday night- D surprised me with flowers after work and we stayed in and watched Captain America(awful movie).

Saturday- All three of us slept in until 10:30 (!!!) then we stopped at Starbucks, shopped at Target and the mall and finally bought Rowan a high chair (we decided on this one and we LOVE it!) Rowan also fell in love with a stuffed animal at Nordstrom so we bought it for her and she's been carrying it around all day every day.

Today: We had breakfast at IHOP, walked around the mall, got Starbucks again, put up some more of our Christmas decorations and my friend came over with her newborn son and I finally got to hold the little guy.. so precious!

This Morning

This morning Rowan watched a little Yo Gabba Gabba! in bed with me. It may have only been ten minutes but it was long enough that I finally got to enjoy a cup of coffee and open the window curtains to find that it wasn't rainy. I think we'll go for a bike ride later..

Today Rowan and I:

-Went to Starbucks for coffee and apple juice

-Visited a friend and met her newborn son Xander.. so tiny!

-Ran a few errands

-Blew kisses back and forth to each other for a solid ten minutes

-Rowan napped

-Mama finished reading New Moon (I'm trying to read all four books of the Twilight Saga before Part 1 of Breaking Dawn comes out on the 17th!! I'm going to the midnight showing with a friend and I am PUMPED)

-Mama cleaned/took down our Halloween decorations

-Listened to our She & Him Christmas LP. We've already got the Christmas spirit here at our house ;) Derek was so excited when he saw that they already had eggnog at the grocery store last night and bought two cartons.

Trick or Treat

Trick or treating was so fun last night! Rowan skipped her second nap of the day so she was pretty tired but she still had a good time. We walked around my brother-in-law's neighborhood since it's much more Halloween friendly and it was fun seeing my niece and nephews all dressed up and excited to have Rowan around to trick or treat with.

Our little owl got a lot of delicious treats and the best part about is.. we get to eat it all for her! ;)

The Park

It's been really rainy here lately which is great because the mornings and nights are cool and cuddly and it feels as close to a new season as we get here. This morning we went to get coffee and then took advantage of the fact that it wasn't raining and took Rowan to the park. She loves the swings but wasn't so sure about the slides. As usual, she much prefers just playing with the leaves.

I've been feeling like a bit of an escape artist lately. Daydreaming about the past, feeling nostalgic, reading a lot of books and getting so lost in their stories I feel like I'm living in them. I'm not sure why I've been this way but it's not a bad thing, just different. Maybe my mood is just changing with the weather...

Last Night

Last night we had a little Halloween get together and there were some awesome costumes.

Derek, Rowan and I will still be woodland creatures for actual Halloween/trick or treating, but I thought I'd take this party as an opportunity for us to wear second costumes so we threw together a circus theme with things we already had. Rowan and I were trapeze artists and Derek was the circus clean-up guy! Haha he carried a broom all night and swept up after the elephants and monkeys..

A Peek

Some of my girlfriends and I decided that we would have dinner together every Thursday night. It's a great way to unwind and catch up and we'll definitely all be seeing a lot more of each other. Sometimes there's a big group of us and sometimes it's small (if someone is sick/late/etc) but we figure as long as there's at least two of us we'll be there Thursday night ready to eat, drink and be merry.

Fort Rowan

Last night I realized that we've never made Rowan a proper living room fort and decided I would this morning. Luckily I woke up before she did so I went to work downstairs and then surprised her with a cute little set up. She loved crawling in and out of it and throwing herself into the pillows. She talked gibberish with her dolls and threw the books around the entire morning until she went down for her nap.

I'd say it was a success.

Ro's Birthday Party!

Honestly, after sorting through, editing and uploading 700 pictures I'm too tired to explain everything about the party. I made almost all of the decorations/cake/cupcakes, we all had a blast with the photobooth area/props, and the theme was glitter and metallics with black and white stripes. Rowan's Birthday

Rowan had a nice little birthday yesterday. She woke up and found streamers and presents in the living room when we came downstairs. We played all morning until her 1 year doctor's appt (yes, poor thing had to get 3 shots on her b-day but she was a trooper) then we played some more until D finally got home from work around 7pm. We had dinner and then sang her "Happy Birthday" before feeding her a little cake. It wasn't anything fancy but she loved her presents and I'm sure she'll have a blast at her birthday party this Saturday.

12 MONTHS

Today is Rowan's first birthday and it seems like just yesterday I was posting this the day that we brought her home from the hospital! The time has flown by but we've enjoyed every second of it because she reminds us to be grateful every single day. This really has been the best year ever and we'll never be able to thank her enough for the joy that she's brought into our lives.

Rowan loves:

climbing up on the couches, walking, looking underneath things, dancing, crawling under the dining table, pillows, Yo Gabba Gabba!

Rowan doesn't love:

when we take away things she shouldn't be playing with, staying still.

20 lbs, 2 oz and 29 3/4 inches.
